NJHS members honor veterans, fallen heroes

C. J. Hooker Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society members proudly donated $200 to the Orange County Wreaths Across America campaign, supporting the mission to honor veterans by placing Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our nation’s fallen heroes.

Dave Andryshak, Superintendent of the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen, visited CJH to accept the donation. He expressed his gratitude to the students and advisor Christine Guerrier for their generosity and leadership.

In addition, NJHS members created heartfelt Thanksgiving cards for local veterans. Mr. Andryshak shared that some cards will be delivered to nursing homes in Goshen that house veterans, with the rest distributed throughout the community.

The Wreaths Across America parade will take place on December 11, when trucks deliver the wreaths to the cemetery. CJH students, along with peers from other districts, will once again line the route with homemade signs to cheer on the truck and its driver in honor of our heroes.
