During its regular meeting on November 10, the members of the Board of Education approved the appointment of Jenelle Hindell as principal and Meghan Coburn as assistant principal of the C. J. Hooker Middle School. Hindell will officially begin her principal position on January 1, 2026, and Coburn will officially join the district as assistant principal on January 5, 2026.
Hindell, who currently serves as assistant principal of C. J. Hooker Middle School, joined the district in April 2024 as the 10-month assistant principal at Goshen High School before transitioning to the C.J. Hooker Middle School earlier this fall.
Hindell began her career in higher education as assistant director of admissions and marketing at the College of Saint Rose and Teachers College at Columbia University. She later moved into K–12 education, serving as a social studies teacher with the New York City Department of Education from 2007 to 2016.
Her career then took her to Colorado, where she held roles as dean of students and grade level administrator in the Cherry Creek School District. She returned to New York as an assistant principal in the Eastchester Union Free School District before coming to Goshen.
Hindell holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from the College of Saint Rose, a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from Teachers College, and a Master of Education in School Administration from Regis University. She is certified in Secondary Social Studies, School Building Leadership and School Administration.
Joining Hindell in leading C.J. Hooker Middle School is Meghan Coburn, who will begin her role as assistant principal on January 5, 2026.
Coburn brings more than a decade of administrative experience to Goshen. She served at Highland Middle School from 2011 to 2024, beginning as assistant principal and later serving as principal for three years. Most recently, she worked as an interim assistant principal at Suffern High School from October through December of 2024.
During her time as an administrator, she oversaw student discipline, implemented multiple project-based student enrichment courses, and worked to cultivate a positive learning environment to better support students and the community.
Coburn earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the College of Saint Rose in 2006, followed by a Master’s degree in Applied Technology Education in 2009. Throughout her career, she has obtained numerous educational accreditations and certifications, strengthening her expertise in school leadership, instructional support and student development.
“The district looks forward to the combined leadership, experience and vision that Hindell and Coburn will bring to C. J. Hooker Middle School,” said Interim Superintendent Thomas Bongiovi. “Their appointments reflect Goshen’s continued commitment to fostering strong, student-centered leadership and creating environments where all learners can thrive.”
