Goshen High School’s Blanket Nation continues its mission of service by donating handmade blankets, hats, and other items to those in need. Now in its third year, the club recently delivered a collection of hand-knit newborn hats to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, providing comfort and warmth to the hospital’s youngest patients.

Last winter, the members of Blanket Nation created blankets for Project Linus, an organization that provides handmade fleece blankets to children up to 18 years old in the United States who are seriously ill or otherwise in need. With chapters in every state, the students’ blankets were distributed locally.

The hats were delivered by sophomore Amanda Mulligan, who is in her second year as a member of Blanket Nation. The Montefiore Nyack Foundation stated, “We loved welcoming Amanda for a tour, where she learned about our NICU and the special purpose of our Butterfly Suite. Seeing young people lead with such compassion is truly inspiring.”
