GCSD has released the revised budget proposal for the 2026–27 school year. Community members can review the meeting agenda and PowerPoint presentation after the meeting tonight through BoardDocs. A recording of the meeting will also be available on the district’s YouTube channel within 24–48 hours.
The revised budget proposal totals $101,033,650, a decrease of $16,800 from the previously defeated budget proposal. The proposed tax levy increase has also been reduced from 3.06% to 2.80%, a decrease of 0.26%.
Based on community feedback, the Board decided to reduce the Superintendent’s budget by from $285,000 in the May 20 proposal to $260,000 in the June 16 proposal, representing a direct reduction of $25,000.
Additional reductions were made to various non-instructional salaries, legal contractual fees, and administrative salaries as part of the Board’s effort to align the budget with community priorities.
The district reallocated funding to student-focused budget areas, including instructional staffing, classroom resources, technology support, and co-curricular programming. These investments are intended to strengthen teaching and learning, enhance student engagement, and provide additional opportunities for academic and personal growth.
The community can learn more by attending the public hearing on June 8. A budget notice and informational postcard will also be mailed that week to provide additional details about the proposed budget.
