C. J. Hooker Middle School Interim Principal Roy Reese announced the Students of the Month for October.

The student of the month is:
- Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
- Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
- Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
- Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
- Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.
Grade 6

- Adam Johnson (A.J). is an excellent student who brings enthusiasm, kindness, and responsibility to our class every single day. He actively joins discussions, supports his friends, and always tries his best in everything he does. His positive attitude and hard work make our Yellow Team proud to have him!
- Dylan Schepps serves as a role model within our classes. She is thoughtful and conscientious, always giving her best effort in every assignment. In addition to her academic strengths, Dylan is a positive and active participant during class discussions. She always treats her teachers and classmates with respect and offers a helping hand when someone needs support. We are grateful to have Dylan in our classes. Congratulations!
- Gwendolyn (Gwen) Persaud has been chosen as our Student of the Month for her kindness and willingness to help others. She is always quick to offer assistance when her classmates need it, whether it’s helping them pick up something they dropped, sharing materials, cleaning a mess, or simply offering a friendly word of encouragement. Her positive attitude and helpful nature make our classroom a better place for everyone. We are proud to recognize her for setting such a wonderful example of teamwork and compassion.
- Xavier Ortiz- Xavier is a pleasure to have in class. He often participates with class discussions and completes all of his work. Xavier advocates for himself and is motivated to do well. He is polite and kind and goes out of his way to help his classmates.
- Special Areas: Lola Groskin is our selection for student of the month. She is a leader in the classroom and her acts of kindness to her classmates are noticed daily. Among many positive qualities that Lola possesses, her patience and kindness have been most observed. Her kind way makes others comfortable, like when she offered a quick breathing strategy to another student who was frustrated recently. She often offers to help other students in need of assistance with their work. She sets an incredible example for others to follow. Congratulations, Lola – well deserved!
Grade 7
- Sergio Espinosa Perez is a nice, respectful young man. His presence alone has a positive effect on any classroom. Sergio may be quiet, but his cooperation, politeness, and acts of kindness are appreciated every day by his teachers and classmates. We always know that he can be trusted to do the right thing AND his very best. Congratulations, Sergio! We are happy to have you on the Gold Team this year!
- Nora Hamilton is a kind and thoughtful seventh grader who embodies what it means to be a caring member of our school community. Her gentle and considerate nature makes her a joy to be around, and her quiet confidence inspires those around her. Nora’s creativity shines through in her artistic talents, and she brings beauty and positivity to everything she does. We are proud to recognize Nora for her kindness, grace, and artistic spirit!
- Jacob Brown-Jacob keeps up with his assignments even though they can be challenging for him. This is especially true for Math. He is respectful, well behaved, and conscientious about his work. He advocates for himself when he needs assistance.
- Special Areas: Andrew Sitko is a kind, hardworking, and respectful student. Andrew plays percussion in both the Symphonic Band and Concert Band, where he is always excited to take on new challenges and play different instruments. Andrew is a hard worker that always comes to class prepared! Congratulations, Andrew, on a well deserved recognition!
Grade 8
- Vanessa Quaye is creative, patient, thoughtful, courteous, and kind. Vanessa comes to class with a positive attitude and joyful enthusiasm. Vanessa consistently demonstrates acceptance of her peers regardless of individual differences and is always willing to help others. Her dedication and positive influence help promote a welcoming classroom environment for all!
- Emma Springer is a highly conscientious, dedicated student who works hard and is always well prepared. Emma is inquisitive, detail oriented and interested in understanding each subject and the world around her in deeper, more meaningful ways. She is sincere, tenacious, and consistently looks for ways to improve. Emma is an excellent participant in class and helpful to her peers. She is well poised, organized and demonstrates a positive attitude and brightens up the day with her infectious smile.
- Grace Gati-Grace comes to school everyday with a smile on her face! She is a hardworking student, who is always up for helping out a classmate. She tries her best in all of her classes. She goes out of her way to be nice to everyone and accept everyone as they are. She is polite and kind to her teachers and always tries her best.
- Special Areas: LaMia Guzman is an outstanding student whose work ethic and leadership set a strong example for others. She approaches each assignment with focus, perseverance, and a true commitment to excellence. Her dedication is contagious; her classmates are often inspired to work harder after seeing her effort and determination. Beyond her academic achievements, LaMia consistently shows kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She embodies the spirit of teamwork, respect, and integrity.
