C. J. Hooker Supply List by Grade for the 2025- 26 School Year

General supplies for all grades

  • Folder (to be used for special area classes throughout the year)
  • Pencils
  • Ear Buds & Case
  • Notebook (specifically used in music)
  • Rosin for sting instruments (specifically used in orchestra)
  • Eraser caps and handheld sharpeners (specifically used in art)

Sixth Grade Supply List

  • One 2 inch binder
  • 5-pocket folders that can be inserted into binder
  • Plenty of loose leaf (extra paper can stay at home)
  • Pencils (keep extras at home to replenish during the year)
  • Small hand-held pencil sharpener 
  • Small Post-Its
  • Black/blue pens
  • Colored pencils, crayons, or markers
  • 3-hole pencil case that fits in binder (NO hard case pencil boxes)
  • Tissues (optional)
  • Wipes/hand sanitizer (optional)
  • Basic 4-function calculator with a square root key
  • Composition Notebook

The 6th Grade Teachers

Seventh Grade

No matter what team your child is on, these are some supplies they will need for seventh grade. Teachers may ask for additional supplies in September.

These are the must- have daily supplies for all seventh grade classes:

  • Inexpensive personal earbuds or headphones
  • Zip up pencil case containing:
    • Pens- blue and black
    • Number 2 pencils (sharpened)
    • Handheld sharpener with case to catch shavings
    • Eraser toppers or large eraser
    • Highlighters (2 colors)
    • Protractor
    • Colored pencils (8 colors)
  • Chromebook carrying case/hard shell cover (suggested, a Chromebook and charger will be provided by the district)
  • Daily planner (suggested)

Homeroom Supplies: (to be collected the first week of school)

  • One large box of tissues
  • One dozen sharpened pencils

Seventh Grade subject specific supplies:

Math- (Both teams)

  • Calculator (Texas Instrument 30XIIS)
  • 1 inch 3 ring binder
  • Durable plastic 2 pocket folder
  • 1 subject spiral notebook
  • Number 2 pencils (sharpened) to leave in the classroom
  • Box of 24 crayons/ 12 Colored pencils

ELA- (Both teams)

  • Marble or spiral notebook
  • Durable plastic 2 pocket folder
  • 1 inch 3 ring binder (or a section in a bigger / shared binder)

Science- (Both Teams)

  • 1.5 inch 3 ring binder
  • 1 subject spiral notebook with binder holes
  • Durable plastic 2 pocket folder with binder holes

*Suggested that the binder, notebook and folder all be ONE color and a
different color than other classes

Social Studies- Red Team/Mr. Bennis

  • Single subject notebook used only for Social Studies, preferably the marbled cover (do not get a binder and loose leaf for social studies)
  • Single folder to hold any worksheets and returned quizzes
  • Pens and pencils that the students must have every day for the entire year

Social Studies – Gold Team/Ms. Angelo

  • 1 inch 3 ring binder (or a section in a bigger binder)
  • Durable plastic 2 pocket folder

Science 8

No course specific materials required

  • Regents Earth Science
    • Review book “Everything you Need to Ace Science in One Big Fat Notebook”, Workman Publishing
    • This book reviews all areas of middle school science and will be used throughout the year for reinforcing general science concepts.

Social Studies

  • Two 2-pocket folders
  • Highlighters

Spanish

● A section in a binder OR a 2-pocket folder

French

  • 2-pocket folder

Eighth Grade Green Team Materials

All Classes:

  • large 3-ring binder with loose-leaf paper a section for each core class that requires this.
  • pencil case recommended to hold the following items:
    • blue or black ink pens
    • pencils
    • different colored highlighters (at least two)
    • headphones/earbuds

ELA:

  • section in a larger 3-ring binder
  • a steady supply of 3×5 index cards and Post-its

Math:

  • section in a larger binder
  • at least 2 dividers (Classwork/Exams)
  • Math 8 – Scientific calculator (Texas Instruments: TI-30x)
  • Algebra I students should purchase a graphing calculator (TI-84 or 84+ and above), but are not required to bring it to school. One will be available during class.

Physical Science:

  • section in larger 3-ring binder
  • folder or pocket in the binder

Earth Science:

  • section in a larger 3-ring binder
  • folder or pocket in the binder
  • Science basics book – Can be purchased at most bookstores and easily found online:
