Board of Education shares update on Superintendent Search

At its meeting on January 16, the Goshen Central School District Board of Education shared an update on the district’s superintendent search and outlined next steps in the process.

The Board reviewed the results of a superintendent search community survey that was open to the school community from November 3-December 5. Feedback from students, families, staff, and community members helped inform the qualities and characteristics the Board is seeking in its next leader and was used to shape the superintendent job posting that opened today. In its posting, the Board shared the following message:

“The Goshen Central School District Board of Education is seeking a forward-looking, student-focused leader to be our next Superintendent of Schools. This individual will work with all members of our school community to guide our school district in pursuit of our vision: An equitable community of lifelong learners. We seek an empathetic and collaborative educator who will learn and grow with our community.”

The application window will remain open through March 1, with the goal of appointing a new superintendent to begin on July 1.

The Board also announced that it will partner with Orange-Ulster BOCES to lead the superintendent search. The search process will be guided by the extensive community input gathered through the survey and will focus on identifying a leader who aligns with the district’s vision.

The Board of Education looks forward to continuing to work with the Goshen community throughout the search process and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
