Board of Education announces the resignation of Dr. Kotes

Dear Goshen Central School District Community,

At the Board of Education meeting held on Friday, April 25, 2025, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kurtis M. Kotes announced he would be resigning from his position effective June 30, 2025.

The Board will now start the pursuit of finding the next superintendent of schools. A Request for Proposals will be issued to regional and local search firms to assist in this process. Once the Board selects a search firm, the Board will develop a timeline and details surrounding the selection process. Along the way, it is our intention to share information and keep the community apprised of the search through a dedicated area on our website at www.gcsny.org, as well as during our Board of Education meetings.

A thoughtful, methodical, and multi-pronged search process will take some time. In the meantime, the Board will appoint an interim superintendent of schools. We are confident that our assistant superintendents, building principals, teachers, and staff will provide the stability and support needed to make this a seamless transition.

The Board thanks Dr. Kotes for his time and dedication to the District and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Goshen Central School District Board of Education:

Tom Loftus, Board President

Brett Weeden, Board Vice President
