District Chromebook Resource Page

Students in grades K-12 have the opportunity to borrow a district-owned Chromebook for the school year. Chromebooks will be used in the classroom during academic instruction, and for some grade levels, may also be used at home for homework purposes. Chromebooks may also be used at home in instances of remote learning due to mandatory quarantine or COVID-19-related school closures.

Please note: In order to use a Chromebook at home for any of the above reasons, the student’s parent/guardian must agree to the terms of the Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form which is emailed directly to parents/guardians. The form will be sent everyday until it is filled out.

*The Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form must be filled out by all parents even if they choose for their child NOT to bring the Chromebook home.

Please note the following procedures for Chromebook distribution:

  • Students in grades K-5 are required to use a district device.
  • Students in grades 6-12 have the option of using a district device or using their own personal laptop device (not a tablet or smartphone).  Please note they must choose one option or the other.
  • The district owns a variety of makes and models of Chromebooks. All devices have been updated to ensure proper functionality.
  • Students will not be permitted to utilize the assigned Chromebook for home use unless a parent/guardian agrees to the terms of the Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form (see below).
    • Students who bring the Chromebook home must bring it back to school each day charged and ready for use.

GCSD 1:1 Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form

It is important that each child in Goshen Schools has access to a computer in school and at home. GCSD will provide your child with a Chromebook for at-home use if you agree to the terms of this form. Please read carefully.

Students in Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School (K-2) and Goshen Intermediate School (3-5) will have access to Chromebooks in the classroom. Students will also have the option to take the Chromebook home, if necessary. If students choose to do so, the Chromebook must come to shool fully charged each day.

Students at CJ Hooker Middle School will be issued a school Chromebook. Students are expected to bring this device to school each day, fully charged.

Students at Goshen High School will also be issued a district Chromebook and will be expected to bring it to school each day, fully charged. Students will not be able to utilize a personal laptop device, tablet or smartphone to access the district internet through a Bring Your Own Device Wireless Network (BYOD).

Students will be expected to have a charged device with them each day for instructional activities.

The Device Program is a partnership between the Goshen Central School District (“the District”) and families (“Family”, “Parent/s Guardian/s”, “Children” or “Student”).

*Please note that the Goshen Central School District owns and will be deploying various makes and models of Chromebooks. All Chromebooks have been properly assessed and updated before dissemination to ensure appropriate functionalities for all users.

The Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form must be filled out by all parents. Please read the Chromebook Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form carefully before submission.
