Susan Armistead’s Dedication to Goshen: Honored with MHSSC Community Award

Susan Armistead

Goshen, NY- Last week, Susan Armistead received a community award from the The Mid-Hudson School Study Council (MHSSC)  for her numerous contributions for our kids and families. Please see the photo attached and my nomination for Susan.

Susan Armistead, affectionately known throughout the community as “the unofficial mayor of Goshen,” exemplifies the very best of servant leadership. For decades, she has quietly and humbly dedicated herself to the service of others through her work with organizations such as the Goshen Ecumenical Food Pantry, Friends of Recovery, and Hope Not Handcuffs. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need have made her a beloved and trusted presence in Goshen.

On a personal note, as Principal of Goshen High School, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the depth of Susan’s kindness and the extraordinary impact she has on the lives of our students and families. She never lets a child go without. Whether sponsoring students so they can attend the senior trip, stepping up to support families in the aftermath of a house fire, or providing clothing to help strengthen a student’s confidence and self-esteem, Susan consistently meets people where they are with dignity, empathy, and love. Her quiet acts of generosity often happen without recognition, yet they leave a lasting mark on those she helps.

Susan Armistead is truly the heart of this community. Her selfless service, humble spirit, and genuine care for others have changed lives and strengthened Goshen in countless ways. She is more than deserving of this recognition, and her example stands as an inspiration to us all.
