James Sterett, computer network administrator, and Dr. Erin Hyle, district psychologist, were honored with the Mid-Hudson School Study Council Awards for Excellence for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. They were celebrated at an award ceremony at The Barn at Villa Venezia on Oct. 29.

Sterett was nominated by Jason Carter, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, personnel and technology. In his nomination letter, Carter stated, “James brings a remarkable combination of technical expertise, collaborative spirit, and unwavering dedication to his role. His leadership extends well beyond day-to-day technical operations; he plays a key role in strategic decision-making on a district-wide scale.”
Sterett oversees a team of four computer technicians to ensure the seamless functions of all technological systems across the district. Last year, he led the district’s recovery efforts following a significant cyber attack. Sterett has been with the district since in 1999.
Dr. Hyle was nominated by Dr. Heather Hendershot, director of pupil personnel services, who stated, “What truly sets Dr. Hyle apart is her genuine care for the students and broader community. She consistently goes above and beyond in her efforts to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing school climate.”
In her role, Dr. Hyle works with teachers, administrators and other staff members to develop individualized support plans for students, create a positive and inclusive learning environment, and leads professional development to help empower staff with the tools to best support students. She joined the district in 2022.
