Dear Parents/Guardians:
The administration of the January Regents Exams will take place on Tuesday, January 24 through Friday, January 27. The purpose of the January Regents is to afford students the opportunity to retake an exam needed for graduation purposes. Students who are scheduled to take exams during this week will be notified by their school counselor.
In order to earn Regents Examination credit toward graduation, students typically must obtain a score of at least 65 on the exam. Last spring, the New York State Education Department informed school districts that this requirement would temporarily be modified. Specifically, in order to obtain Regents Examination credit toward graduation, students will have to pass the course that is connected to the Regents Examination AND obtain a score of at least 50 on the Regents Examination. This requirement will apply to the January 2023, June 2023, and August 2023 Regents Examination sessions.
It is very important for students to remain focused on academics through the remainder of the school year. Please encourage your child to take advantage of the following opportunities for additional academic support:
- Daily after-school homework assistance during 10th period
- After-school review sessions, scheduled by individual teachers
- Academic Intervention Service (AIS) and study halls, scheduled into many students’ schedules
- Review sessions will also be available during Evening High Please contact Assistant Principal/Evening High School Principal, Mrs. Tzouganatos for more information
If your student does not have a Regents exam, they are to attend school as usual. They are to follow their regular scheduled classes.
If you have any questions about amended requirements, exam procedures, or anything else related to this January’s exams, feel free to contact me or your child’s school counselor. Thank you for your continued support.
Principal Nicholas Pantaleone
