Goshen High School senior Benjamin Thurtle was selected to perform in two prestigious NYSSMA All-State ensembles — in addition to being chosen as an alternate for a third!
Ben was accepted into the All-State Mixed Choir and the All-State Vocal Jazz Choir, and as alternate for the All-State Band. Last spring, he prepared and performed three separate solo auditions: classical voice, vocal jazz and the French horn. His auditions were scored by a NYSSMA Certified All-State adjudicator, and his acceptance carefully evaluated by a selection committee via a thorough and complex selection process based on teacher and adjudicator recommendations, previous NYSSMA solo ratings, grades, and other factors.
