Jan. 13: Updated isolation and quarantine guidelines

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and Orange County Department of Health (OCDOH) have recommended shortened isolation and quarantine periods related to COVID-19.

As of Jan. 13, the Goshen Central School District will adopt the following for students and employees:

COVID-19 positive individuals:

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 (applies to students, educators, and staff)

Vaccination Status: Same for unvaccinated and vaccinated

  • Period of Isolation: 5 days
  • Additional Information: If symptoms persist,  further isolation will be required; otherwise, individuals may attend school or work after the 5-day isolation.

COVID-19 exposed individuals:

Individuals who are exposed to someone who tested positive COVID-19 (applies to students, educators, and staff)

Vaccination Status: Fully vaccinated

  • Period of Isolation: Attend school/work
  • Additional Information: If symptoms appear, quarantine and seek testing.

Vaccination Status: Unvaccinated and symptomatic

  • Period of Quarantine: 5 day quarantine – Day 0 is the last day of close contact with a positive individual.
  • Additional Information: If symptoms appear, quarantine and seek testing.

Vaccination status: Unvaccinated and asymptomatic

  • Period of Quarantine: There are two options:
    • Test to Stay (TTS) – Students need parent/guardian permission; or
    • 5 day quarantine – Day 0 is the last day of close contact with a positive individual.
  • Additional Information: Test to Stay allows students and employees to remain in school as long as they test negative and remain symptomatic over the 7-day testing period. See below for details.
