Goshen High School sophomore Michael Lombardi was recently gifted an Orange County Veterans Coalition medallion for his musical contribution to the Orange County Veterans Memorial Day Service last month.

Michael, a trumpet player with the high school, will happily perform when requested at different community events and services. For instance, on Sept. 11, Michael played the National Anthem at the start of the 5K/10K Heroes Run and then played Taps, a call to remember those who gave their lives in the service of the United States, at the 9/11 Memorial Services in Washingtonville.

On Sept. 29, Michael performed Taps again, this time at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Day Service. At the end of the service, an unknown Veteran in attendance approached Michael to thank him and gift him an Orange County Coalition Medallion as show of appreciation for his services. The veteran explained that there is often recorded music at these events instead of live performances, and thanked Michael for his contribution of live music at the event.
