CJH names April & May Students of the Month

The student of the month is:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

April 2021

Grade 6

Brianna Manuelpillai is an extremely bright, kind, and responsible young adult.  Brianna is a leader in class discussions.  Her efforts in class make her a great role model for other students.  She is always thoughtful and supportive when dealing with her classmates.  It is a pleasure to recognize Brianna as student of the month!

Olivia Marku is an attentive and conscientious student.  She is hardworking and creative, always putting forth her best effort.  She is an active participant in class whether in person or remote.   In addition to being a strong academic student, she participates in the music program and is looking forward to performing in this year’s musical.  Olivia  is kind and considerate and is always willing to help a classmate or offer an encouraging word. It is a pleasure to to recognize Olivia as student of the month.

Jack Vaccaro has worked extremely hard every single day whether he is in school or at home learning.  Even though Jack seems to be quiet, he often participates in class and shares his knowledge with his classmates.  Jack is attentive to details on his assignments, and always puts effort into his work.  Most importantly, Jack is a super nice young man!  He is pleasant and helpful to everyone!  It has been a pleasure having Jack on the purple team, and to select Jack as our student of the month!

Madelyn Lenoci is a hard working, kind, and polite student. She comes into class everyday with a positive attitude. Madelyn goes above and beyond without being asked. She has a strong work ethic and takes initiative in her classwork. Madelyn is attentive during class, contributes to class discussions, and is always present in in-person/remote classes. Madelyn has continued to grow and develop in multiple areas throughout this school year. Keep up the great work!

Special Areas:

Matthew Barnable  is a hard-working student who always shows up to class with a pleasant attitude and a smile behind his mask (I can see it in his eyes!).  He is polite and brings great energy to my classroom. Matthew puts his best effort into his work and it shows. Congratulations to Matthew!

Grade 7

Mehri Ghezel-Ayagh is a mature, insightful, and inquisitive young lady.  She has a genuine interest in learning and understanding all that she can.  Mehri has an infectious energy that shines through whether she is in-class or working remotely.  She contributes to class in a meaningful way, adding depth and her unique perspective.  She is an excellent role model;  showing a strength of character and identity in knowing who she is.  Congrats Mehri and keep shining!

Nicholas Selbo displays a quiet confidence and a strong sense of patience and responsibility.  He quickly recognizes questions and asks them when he needs to.  He also welcomes and is very appreciative of feedback.  Nick possesses a laid back, but genuine nature.  His keen sense of humor is enjoyable to be around and conversations with Nick are always fun!  Always  personable and respectful to his teachers and peers, he is engaged in the content and effortlessly earns the title of one of April’s Student of the Month!  Nicely done, Nick!  Keep up the good work!

Angelie McLeod displays a polite and respectful demeanor to both her teachers and peers. She also demonstrates a strong work ethic in her desire to do well in all of her classes. Angelie is a strong participant in all of her classes whether she is working at home remotely or in class. She is always kind, friendly, and considerate of those around her.  Congratulations Angelie on achieving Student of the Month for April 2021!

Special Areas:

Elizabeth Archer is a determined and hardworking student. She has shown great leadership in our group work as well as class discussions. She is willing to participate and share her insights on many topics. She is respectful and considerate – always joining our meets with a wave and a “hi” as well as making a point to say goodbye as she leaves each day. She provides a much appreciated energy and enthusiasm to our classes during these challenging times. Congratulations to Elizabeth!

Grade 8

Matthew Schroeter  is a respectful and responsible student who is committed to academic success.  Matthew always comes to class prepared and with a positive attitude.  He works well with his classmates and regularly participates in class discussions.  It is our pleasure to recommend him for Student of the Month.  Congratulations, Matthew!

Alexander Green is a smart, determined, kind and considerate young man.  Alex is an excellent example for others and has risen to the challenges of virtual instruction.  He is mature beyond his years, relates well to adults and his peers, and is an appropriately entertaining and enjoyable young man who brings a positive energy to whatever situation he is in – both in and out of his classes.  He is genuinely motivated and works hard to do and be his best.

Tristan Brown is a polite, respectful, responsible, and hardworking student.  He shows up to class each day with a smile on his face and a positive attitude towards learning.  Tristan is an active class participant and always gives his best effort each and every day.  Keep up the great work, Tristan!

Special Areas:

Briana Carbone is a fantastic musician and sets a wonderful example for others to follow. She continues to have a willingness to always do her very best in all areas of music as well as in her other classes. Briana continues to be enthusiastic each and every day and is an absolute pleasure to teach.

May 2021

Grade 6

Abigail Lenoci is a kind, responsible, and respectful student who has made great academic progress this year. She participates in class, works diligently, and strives to improve her abilities. She has a wonderful sense of humor and gets along with all of her classmates. Abby’s smile is evident even while wearing a mask. We are so pleased to recognize Abby as student of the month.

Sammy Quattrini has been working hard all year.  She always puts forth 110% effort.  Sammy is very kind and helpful to her peers and her teachers.  Sammy always displays a positive attitude!  Sammy takes her responsibilities very seriously.  It has been an absolute pleasure having Sammy on our team, and we know that she will continue to succeed!

Gwen Warland  is an exceptional young adult.  She is extremely bright, kind, and responsible.  Gwen is always kind and helpful when dealing with her peers.  Her efforts, leadership, and participation in class make her a great role model for other students.  It is a pleasure to recognize Gwen as student of the month!

Charles Dones is a kind young man with a great sense of humor. He is very conscientious about his schoolwork and consistently completes assignments and advocates for himself. A student of the month can either be respectful, responsible, positive, honest, or committed to success. Charlie is all of these things and more and it is a privilege to recognize his accomplishments.

Special Areas:

Monica Aviles is always ready to go! She is positive, outgoing, and energetic.  Her presence in class makes other students feel comfortable and her engagement motivates them to participate also. She is a pleasure to have in our class!!

Grade 7

Valentina Fini is a kind, patient and respectful young lady.  Valentina is always on-time to class, prepared and ready to work.  In class, she pays close attention to instructions and the lesson and is proactive about seeking clarification.  It is clear that she demonstrates a strong sense of engagement and desire to be successful. Valentina is also observant, open to accepting guidance and funny! Her kindness, positive attitude and solid work ethic will serve her well in her last upcoming year here at C.J. Hooker Middle School.  Keep up the good work, Valentina!  You’ve done an awesome job this year!  Congratulations on being selected as one of May’s Student of the Month.

William Salerno is a hard-working and responsible young man.  Will comes into school each day ready to learn and participate.  He holds himself to high standards and takes great pride in the quality of his work.  Will is kind and respectful to both his peers and teachers.  He displays a maturity and sense of self that makes him a great role model for others.  Congratulations on being selected as Student of the Month!

Brittany Zamora is a polite, respectful, and responsible student.  She actively participates in class and always displays a positive attitude towards learning.  Brittany is a hard working student and always gives her best effort.  Keep up the good work, Brittany!

Special Areas:

Drew Gilbert is an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the orchestra as well as all of his classes.  He has made great improvements with his violin playing this year.  He has a positive attitude and his effort is excellent.

Grade 8

Gigi Gahra is an ambitious, highly capable, and diligent student who is relentless in her pursuit of excellence.  She is a conscientious student who takes the initiative to find ways to improve both her grades and her understanding.  She is inclusive of all students and generates an aura of positivity and friendliness.  She is caring, considerate, and always attentive.  She is a great participant and sets an admirable example for her peers.  All of these characteristics will allow Gigi to achieve anything on which she sets her heart and mind.

Riley Quattrini is a responsible, diligent, and caring student.  She is attentive and kind and a great participant in class.  Riley comes to class with a positive attitude and always strives to do her best.  Congratulations to Riley!

Arianna Tuthill-West is a bright light in her classes. She comes to school everyday in a great mood, ready to work. She is an active participant with insightful thoughts and ideas. Her creativity is limitless. She is kind and helpful to her fellow classmates.

Special Areas:

Karol Moya is a hard worker and it truly reflects in her art. She is very thoughtful in her art making and aims to do her best all the time. She did especially well taking the leader role in completing her Surrealism inspired Olympics of the Visual Arts project, which placed first. Her enthusiasm and dedication is beyond commendable. She is fearless when asking questions and striving to improve in any area she puts her energy into. It has been a joy to watch her grow artistically and as a person. An overall amazing art student!
