Dear Goshen Schools community,
On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to welcome Dr. Kurtis Kotes as the new superintendent of the Goshen Central School District.
Many members of the school community may be familiar with Dr. Kotes, who has previously held leadership positions in our schools. He first came to Goshen in December 2011 to serve as principal of Goshen High School, and in 2015, was named assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction, personnel and technology. In 2018, he departed the district to serve as superintendent of schools at the Mount Pleasant Central School District.
On Jan. 11, the Board unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Kotes as superintendent of schools beginning in the 2021-22 school year, after an intensive, months-long search conducted with the assistance of Strategic Educational Advantage, LLC.. Today, July 1, Dr. Kotes begins his new position as Goshen’s superintendent.
Dr. Kotes’ history with the district is both impressive and heartening. He is a genuine leader who cares deeply for students, district employees and the school community. His professional yet personable demeanor allows him to build strong relationships and work collaboratively to provide challenging, yet nurturing educational programs and opportunities. I look forward to working with Dr. Kotes as he shares his vision of leadership for our district.
It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Kotes back home to Goshen.
Please be well and enjoy your summer.
Board of Education President
