Recap: Three positive COVID-19 cases over February break

Over the February recess (Feb. 15-21), district officials were notified of three confirmed cases of COVID-19.

A student at Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School, a student at Goshen Intermediate School and a student at Goshen High School each tested positive. For the positive cases at SAS and GIS, all individuals who were considered at risk of exposure have already been contacted by district staff and/or the Department of Health with instructions about self-quarantine and other health-related information. The infected GHS student was not in school during the infectious period and does not pose a risk of exposure to others in the building.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please remember that we can help stop the spread by following the guidance of the Orange County Department of Health, including washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding gatherings and group activities, and staying home when you are sick.

I hope you had a restful break. Please join me in wishing a speedy recover to our unwell family members.

Sincerely,

Daniel T. Connor
Superintendent of School
