CJH student tests positive for COVID-19

Today, district officials were notified that a student at C. J. Hooker Middle School tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 26. The student was last in the building on January 22.

Staff members are now in the process of contacting any individuals who may have been at risk of exposure.

Please note: It is important to notify your child’s school if he/she tests positive for COVID-19 so that district staff may notify those at risk of exposure in a timely manner. We are not always immediately notified by the Department of Health for positive cases.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Remember that we can help stop the spread by following the guidance of the Orange County Department of Health, including washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding gatherings and group activities, and staying home when you are sick.

Join me in wishing a speedy recover to all of our unwell family members.

Sincerely,

Daniel T. Connor
Superintendent of Schools
