SAS, CJH students test positive for COVID-19

Yesterday, the district was notified that a student at C. J. Hooker Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. The student is learning remotely and has not visited the building, therefore no contract tracing is necessary.

This evening, district officials were notified that a student at Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last in the building on Jan. 28.

All individuals who may be at risk of exposure are being contacted by district staff and/or the Orange County Department of Health with instructions for self-quarantine.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please remember that we can help stop the spread by following the guidance of the Orange County Department of Health, including washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding gatherings and group activities, and staying home when you are sick.

Please join me in wishing a speedy recover to all of our unwell family members.

Sincerely,

Daniel T. Connor
Superintendent of Schools
