Five test positive for COVID-19, no risk of exposure to others

Today, district officials learned that five individuals in our schools have tested positive for COVID-19.

Two students from C. J. Hooker Middle School, two students from Goshen High School and a student from Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School all tested positive for COVID-19. The infected individuals were not in the buildings during the infectious periods and do not pose a risk of exposure to employees or students.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please remember that we can help stop the spread by following the guidance of the Orange County Department of Health, including washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding gatherings and group activities, and staying home when you are sick.

Please join me in wishing a speedy recover to all of our unwell family members.

Sincerely,

Daniel T. Connor
Superintendent of Schools
