District mourns the passing of longtime teacher Carole Griffin

The Goshen Central School District is mourning the passing of Carole Griffin, a longtime and beloved teacher at Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School.

Goshen is privileged to have had Carole teach in our schools for more than 43 years. She has touched the lives of countless children and was well-respected and admired by her colleagues. This tremendous loss has deeply impacted our school community, and Carole will be greatly missed.

According to SAS Principal Henry Freedman, Carole was kind, generous, and always thinking of other people. She loved and cared deeply about her students. She was a true professional, a dear colleague, and a wonderful listener who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Children grieve in different ways. School counselors are available to provide assistance and support to our students and families. If you feel your child is experiencing a great deal of difficulty or is in need of additional assistance, please contact your child’s teacher or counselor.

Carole was an amazing teacher, colleague and friend. I ask that you please keep the Griffin family in your thoughts and in your hearts during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Daniel T. Connor
Superintendent of School
