Recap: Three positive COVID-19 cases over winter break

Over the winter recess (Dec. 24-Jan. 1), district officials were notified of three confirmed cases of COVID-19.

An employee from the Food Service Department who reports to each school building, a faculty member from the C. J. Hooker Middle School and a custodial staff member at C. J. Hooker Middle School each tested positive. All individuals who were considered at risk of exposure have already been contacted by district staff and/or the Department of Health with instructions about self-quarantine and other health-related information.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please remember that we can help stop the spread by following the guidance of the Orange County Department of Health, including washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding gatherings and group activities, and staying home when you are sick.

As winter break comes to an end, I’d like to remind our families that all students will learn remotely from Jan. 4-8 during the district’s one week “pause.”

I hope you had a restful break. Please join me in wishing a speedy recover to our unwell family members.
