The Goshen Central School District will be closed for in-person learning until Monday, Nov. 16. All students in grades K-12 will learn remotely during the closure.
District officials apologize for the multiple notices and for any confusion leading up to this decision. Unfortunately, as positive cases of COVID-19 unfold in our district and in the districts around us, we are finding that we do not have enough instructional staff and substitute teachers available to cover our in-person classes.
At this time, students will return to school for in-person learning on Monday, Nov. 16, with the exception of fourth grade students and teachers, who will return on Wednesday, Nov. 18 (the end of their Orange County of Health’s required quarantine period), and any students or employees who were notified by district staff and/or the department of health to quarantine because of direct contact with the infected individual.
Please note that the decision to close schools is not one that we take lightly. Also, please know that we make every effort to communicate with our families and employees as quickly and accurately as possible; however, we will not issue any COVID-19 notifications until we have received confirmation from, and have consulted with, the department of health, and unfortunately, situations have the potential to quickly change.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact your building administrator or school nurse. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this hectic time.
Daniel T. Connor
