Goshen updates six week plan for school reopening

Summer is quickly turning to fall, and district officials are working hard to finalize all the details that the new school year requires. School schedule formation, synchronous and asynchronous instruction, remote curriculum development, teacher/student interactions, extracurricular activities, athletics and so much more – please know that all of our decisions put student and staff health as our first priority and obligation.

We understand that this year is anything but typical, and we are all facing a number of concerns and frustrations, but we will continue to refine our reopening plans in order to make our parents, students and employees feel as comfortable and prepared as possible.

After careful consideration, district officials have created a reopening timeline to help our school families adjust as we enter the 2020-21 school year. We will use the first six weeks of school to phase in our hybrid learning model, keeping in mind that all students are offered a full remote learning model if they so choose. Please note these dates on your calendars, and know that additional information will follow from your child’s individual schools.

We must remember that our children will look to us as we enter this “new normal.” We must set an example of resilience, flexibility and a positive attitude. I ask that you keep that in mind as we enter the new year.
