YMCA to offer emergency childcare for families of first responders, essential health workers

Essential health care workers and first responders in need of childcare are invited to utilize the Middletown YMCA Emergency Childcare Services.

In order to guarantee your child’s placement, please register by the Friday prior to the Monday start date. The price of the program is $250/ week or $185 for 3 days (there is a 10% second child discount) and must be paid prior to attending. Important information about Middletown YMCA Emergency Childcare Services

For School Age Children at Liberty Street, Minisink Intermediate and Florida:

During these uncertain times, the health and safety of every person in our program is our primary concern and we are taking every precaution to prevent potential exposure or spread of COVID-19.  We have thoroughly sanitized our entire building and have implemented a more rigorous disinfecting protocol.  We are also limiting access to our building, so a nurse/LPN will be at our main entrance performing a screening of both the staff and the children before they enter.  If anyone has a fever, answers yes to any of the screening questions or shows any other signs of being sick, they will not be permitted to enter the building.  In addition, parents are not allowed to enter the building.  We are limiting the amount of children in each room to 10.

Below is a list of important information that you will need to know before you drop off your child.

  • Drop off is between 7-9 a.m., to ensure that all children can be screened.
    • Screening consists of:
      • Temperature Check
      • Have you traveled out of the country the last 14 days?
      • Have you had contact with any person under investigation or with known COVID-19?
      • Does your child have any symptoms of a respiratory infection (cough, sore throat, fever or shortness of breath)?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, your child would not be allowed to attend our program. If your child passes the screening, they will be brought to the bathroom to wash their hands and then brought to their designated classroom.

Sick Policy:  If you suspect that your child is getting ill, keep them home and consult with your doctor.  They may return once they are free of any symptoms for 24 hours or have a doctor’s note stating that the child can return.  If your child becomes ill in our program, we will put your child in our designated isolation area and call you right away.  We will be asking you or one of your emergency contacts pick up your child immediately.  If you or one of your emergency contacts are not able to do so, you jeopardize your child’s enrollment.  Please understand this is for the safety of everyone.

Essential Emergency Worker/ Healthcare Worker ID: Please show your personnel ID at time of drop off.

Breakfast and Lunch: Breakfast and lunch will be provided through the School District. In the event that your child chooses not to eat what is provided, please let us know and ensure that you send in enough food and snack for the day.  Please notify us, if your child has any allergies.

Water Bottle: Please send your child in with a refillable water bottle that is clearly labeled with their name.

Change of Clothes should be kept in your child’s book bag or other clearly labeled bag in case of any spills or accidents.

Homework time will be a part of our daily schedule.  If your child has classwork that needs to be completed, please send it in with your child.

Electronics will be permitted to be used for short periods of time.  However, the YMCA and its staff are not responsible for loss or damage.

Late Pick Up Policy: It is essential for your child to be picked up on time.  If you cannot pick up on time, one of your emergency contacts should be available to pick up.  If you are late, you will be billed $1.00 per minute and cannot return to the program.
