C. J. Hooker Middle School Unity Club members celebrated Black History Month by discussing the importance of equality, unity and mutual respect of all cultures.
Students met over several days to create posters and to talk about their dreams. They created a bulletin board by writing their dreams, some in their native languages, on an outline of their traced hand. Club Advisor Gaby Ackert explained that each hand is different, as we are all different.
Together, students wanted to convey Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of hope, that one day, we are not judged by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character.
