C. J. Hooker Middle School Students of the Month for October

 

Principal Heather Carman and Assistant Principal Robert Siracuse are proud to announce the Students of the Month for October.

The student of the month is:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

Angelina Celio has adjusted well to CJH! She is very responsible, hard working, and prepared to learn every day. Angelina enters our classrooms with a smile. Her friendly personality makes her a leader among her peers.  Angelina is kind and helpful to everyone! Congratulations, Angelina! We are so proud of you!

Luca Sorice has made a great transition to the middle school. Not only is he a responsible student,  he is respectful and kind to both his peers and adults.  He comes to class each day, prepared and ready to learn. His positive attitude makes him a perfect candidate for student of the month. Congratulations Luca!

Daniel Govoruha is a bright, kind, and responsible young adult .  He is intelligent and inquisitive. He has a positive nature that adds to our learning environment. His efforts in class make him a great role model for other students. It is a pleasure to recognize Daniel as student of the month!

Matthew Barnable is a hard worker and he has also shown a big improvement in his attendance. He comes into school every day with a big smile and is excited to learn new things. His friends enjoy group work with him and the pictures that he draws for all staff puts a smile on their faces.  We are very happy to nominate Matthew Barnable for student of the month.

Special Areas: Kaveon Wilson is recognized for his cooperation and enthusiasm that he brings to his classes. He is a great participator and is eager to learn. He is respectful and courteous to everyone around him and will put a smile on your face!

Grade 7

Cole Florio has gotten his 7th grade year off to a great start!  Cole displays a mature and positive attitude.  His teachers all agree that he is both respectful and attentive in class. Cole’s most notable quality is his strong work ethic and his quality work is evidence of this.  He is extremely consciousness, and always ready to work independently or with peers.  Congratulations, Cole on being selected as one of 2019 – 2020’s first Students of the Month!

Madeline Thompson is an amazing young woman.  She is an exemplary student, whose progress during the first marking period is quite admirable.  Her determination, hard work, and focus have all lead to her academic excellence.  In addition, Maddie is kind, sweet, and patient with friends and classmates.  She has also made great strides as a member of the modified volleyball team.  Way to go, Maddie, and keep up the great work!

Judith Perez is a friendly and outgoing young lady. She is always polite and greets everyone with a smile. Judith is a responsible and hardworking student, and always completes her work on time. She is a leader to her peers and strives to do her best in all that she does. Congratulations on being chosen as a student of the month!

Special Areas: Benicio (Nico) Vanichpong-Barbosa is a very talented musician and always maintains a positive attitude. He is an excellent role model to others in class. Nico continues to be respectful & enthusiastic each and every day in school and is an absolute pleasure to teach.

Grade 8

Amya Roach Long is a conscientious, patient and respectful young woman.  She is smiley, polite, responsible and exceptionally attentive.  She is a strong advocate for herself, has a positive attitude everyday and is always pleasant to everyone.   She works hard to achieve her best and is unafraid to seek extra help during class, her free periods, or after school.   She is genuine in her efforts and sets a bright example for other students.  Amya is energetic, assertive, and inquisitive.  These characteristics serve her well in everything she does.

Sabrina Arroyo is a kind, diligent, and respectful student.  She comes to class with a positive attitude and always gives 100%.  Sabrina is very thoughtful and will often help out in the classroom without having to be asked by the teacher.  She is an enthusiastic learner and an absolute pleasure to have in class.  Congratulations to Sabrina!

Jenna Adamec is working hard in her classes and is off to a great start this school year.  She enjoys talking to her teachers about her upcoming weekend plans.   Keep up the good work, Jenna!

Special Areas: Ilana Diaz is a motivated and focused student. She works very hard on her projects and is open to feedback on improvement. She has really excelled in her art and continues to push herself to do better. She also helps those around her to do their best as well by motivating them and providing useful feedback.
