Board of Education appoints changes in district administration

The members of the Board of Education appointed three changes in administration at last night’s Board of Education meeting.

Robert Siracuse, director of personnel, will take over Heather Carman’s position as assistant principal of the C. J. Hooker Middle School. Carman was recently appointed as the school’s principal after the resignation of former principal Dr. William Rolon.

Dr. Gregory Voloshin, who has served as principal at Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School since July 2017, will replace Siracuse as director of personnel. Elementary Coordinator Henry Freedman will serve as interim principal of Scotchtown Avenue until a new principal is appointed; district officials anticipate that a replacement will be found before January 1, 2020.

“After Dr. Rolon’s resignation earlier this summer, the district decided to look within its own pool of talent and shift our administrative team in order to maximize each individual’s strengths and expertise,” said Superintendent Daniel Connor. “I am confident that these changes will benefit the entire district as we continue to move the district forward in challenging our students with the best education possible.”
