The Goshen Girls Golf team recently won its 63rd consecutive match, having gone undefeated for four seasons. They have been Division Champions since 2015.
This year also marked their second consecutive Section IX Team Championship, qualifying the team for States. Seniors Erika Fuentes and Olivia Klugman qualified individually for the State Championships. This was Coach James Polanis’ eighth New York State Championship in his 17-year coaching career.
In addition to Erika and Olivia, juniors Riley Doyle and Sydney Jessup competed at States. The team finished fourth in the state, outperforming themselves from last year’s competition. In individual competition, Fuentes finished 11th and Klugman finished 45th out of a large group of 108 competing golfers.
Also playing for the team this year were freshmen Sofia Fini and Catherine Quinn and sophomore Eve Doyle. The team finished their impressive season 9-1 in their league and 14-2 overall.
When asked about this past season, Coach Polanis said, “I want to wish my departing seniors good luck in college, and I look forward to another successful season with my returning players next year.”
