Goshen High School seniors Jimmy DeLeon and Anna Boese were recipients of the Senior Scholar Humanities Awards at a breakfast reception at Kuhl’s Highland House on April 25.
Jimmy Deleon will attend SUNY Orange in Middletown in the fall. He plans to major in New Media and continuing his education at a four-year college. Jimmy is a sound engineer-in-training for the Drama Club and was actively involved in all four musicals. He attends the Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education Program for Heavy Equipment, and utilizes his skills and knowledge at his internship with Boyce Excavating. For the past two years, Jimmy has worked at The Castle Fun Center in Chester and is training to become a supervisor. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering at Saint Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, where he is an active member of the parish.
Anna Boese will attend Cornell University’s College of Engineering this fall to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering, in hopes of working for NASA. She has been playing the violin for nine years and is currently the president and concertmistress of the Chamber Orchestra as well as the president of the Varsity Choir and Jazz Choir. She began the piano 12years ago and has participated in Piano Guild judgings every year since then. She took part in NYSSMA competitions for violin, piano, and jazz piano, and has been accepted into All-County music festivals for jazz band, orchestra, and jazz choir, plus Area-All State for orchestra. She performed in every musical and drama production at Goshen High School since her freshman year, including her role as Maggie Jones in 42nd Street. Additionally, she is part of the after-school groups Percussion Ensemble and Stage Band as a xylophone player and jazz pianist, accordingly.
