January Students of the Month are responsible, honest

The C. J. Hooker Middle School has named its Students of the Month for January.

The student of the month is:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

Anthony Kovacs is a very organized and responsible young man.  He comes to class every day prepared to work. Anthony pays attention, and actively participates in his classes.  He is very polite and helpful to all of his peers and teachers. Anthony is a leader in the class; not a follower.  He has a very positive outlook on life! It is a pleasure to select Anthony as student of the month!

Morgan Taylor is an outstanding student.  She is intelligent and inquisitive. She is kind towards other students and always willing to help her peers.  She has a great personality and is a pleasure to have in class. It is a privilege to recognize Morgan as student of the month.

Sabrina Diaz  is a friendly and responsible young lady. She always comes prepared and takes her schoolwork very seriously. She is outgoing and kind and always has a smile.  Sabrina doesn’t hesitate to help her teachers or her classmates. She has a positive attitude and is fun to be around. Congratulations on being nominated student of the month.

Anthony Carr is a happy, fun loving young man.  He is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to both his peers and his teachers.  Anthony is polite, kind and accepting of all. Thanks for brightening each day with your smile, Anthony!  Keep up the good work!

Special Areas:

Matt Schroeter participates every day in class. He is engaged in our materials and always has a positive attitude. He works very well with his lab group and is not only helpful but also inclusive to everyone. He is a pleasure to have in class.

Grade 7

Layla Capella is a self-motivated and well-rounded young lady who excels in everything from academics to the arts.  Layla is conscientious and responsible and always puts forth her best effort. Though quiet in her demeanor, she leads by example and is a positive role model for those around her.  Layla displays nothing but kindness and respect to all her peers. Her mature presence, helpful nature, and the high standards to which she holds herself to all make Layla a wonderful candidate for Student of the Month.  Congrats!

Dylin Duggan is a kind, responsible and respectful young lady, whose conscientious efforts are noteworthy.  Dylin arrives to class on-time; she is organized, prepared and ready to work. Always open-minded to feedback, she is easy and fun to work with!  It is all of these characteristics that will help her to meet the goals she sets for herself. Great job this year Dylin, and congratulations on being selected as one of January’s Student of the Month!

Maria Garcia is kind and caring and always puts forth effort in math class. Maria is always willing to help out her classmates. When a student had difficulty writing due to a wrestling injury, she helped to scribe for them. Maria deserves this nomination because she her smile and attitude brings joy to everyone around her.

Special Areas:

Landry Masters is extremely responsible in my class.  He is a natural leader who is mature enough to understand that all students are at different levels, and he helps out where he can. He also has an awesome sense of humor.  He offers to help every single class and is sometimes the last one in the room doing dishes. Landry has exceptional manners and exceptional social skills. Great job Landry!

Grade 8

Damaris Rodriguez demonstrates a quiet confidence and a positive demeanor.  She is accepting and inclusive of all people and graciously works with and will provide assistance to anyone.  Damaris is curious and intelligent and has risen to the rigors of advanced courses. She is very artistic and displays her creativity in her artwork and her writing.  She has a quiet confidence and a maturity that can be seen both academically and socially.

Kyla Kropp is a responsible  and diligent student who is committed to academic success.  Kyla comes to class prepared, participates in class discussions, and is always willing to work with her peers.  She has a very positive attitude and strives to do her best each day. Congratulations to Kyla!

Francis McGuinness has matured into a well-rounded, hard working and goal driven student. Francis is a valuable member of many school clubs and after-school programs. He takes the initiative to look for solutions, offer advice and often volunteers to assist staff and students. Francis has displayed great leadership skills by encouraging his peers to perform at their best as well as organizing student roles during one of his after school clubs. Francis is an excellent candidate for student of the month.

Special Areas:

John Lamberty shines in class. He is eager to participate, asking questions and offering answers. He is working hard to get his work completed and is showing great responsibility. He is respectful to the other students in class and to his teacher. Not only does John show dedication to his work and behavior in class but also to his activities outside of class like wrestling. Great job, John – well deserved!
