Leo Club members raise money for cancer awareness, prevention

Members of the C. J. Hooker Middle School Leo Club recently held a fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The students organized a school-wide hat day that was held January 29. Employees and students were able to wear a hat to school by donating to the cause.

In all the students raised $263 for the American Cancer Society. The fundraiser was held just in time for World Cancer Day, an international day held each year on February 4 to increase cancer awareness and encourage its prevention, early detection and treatment. This year’s theme is “I am and I will.”
