SAS Food Drive is underway; collection ends February 1

The Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School has participated in a school wide Food Drive for many years. Our goal is to include the students in an activity that may help others at a time when many food pantries are bare after the holiday season. It is a simple way to have young children learn about acts of kindness and giving to others. Participation is voluntary.

If you wish to have your child participate in this project, please have them bring nonperishable food items to the school up until February 1.

Suggested items

Non-perishable foods such as:

  • hot and cold cereal
  • pasta
  • soup
  • rice
  • peanut butter
  • jelly
  • tuna
  • crackers
  • coffee
  • tea
  • dried fruit
  • sauce
  • baby food
  • and other canned goods.

Please be sure not to send any items with an expired freshness date.

After February 1, the food will be delivered to the Goshen Ecumenical Food Pantry at the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen. The Food Pantry is open the second Saturday of each month at 9:15 a.m.and the last Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. If you have any questions about this project please contact the school at 615-6600.

Very truly yours,

Dr. Gregory Voloshin, Principal & Mary Kay Jankowski, Social Worker
