First grade teachers named “game changers” in regional newsletter

Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School Teachers Christina Kelly, Danielle Scarcella and Melissa McDermott were featured in the winter edition of the Action Based Learning newsletter.

This edition, titled “Game Changer,” highlights four schools in New York state – including Scotchtown Avenue – that are incorporating action based learning in their curriculum.

Over the summer, Scotchtown Avenue launched its Kinesthetic Learning Lab which incorporates physical activity into every day learning. Kinesthetic Рor action based Рlearning helps students concentrate and retain information, all while feeling more energized, focused and ready to learn. The teachers are also working to create a kinesthetic curriculum for each grade level.
