This holiday season, our students are paying it forward by helping their community in the spirit of giving.

Recently, 14 C. J. Hooker Middle School students from the school’s Leo Club and November Students of the Month volunteered at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Upon arrival the students were assigned tasks that included unpacking sorting, quality control and packaging. The students were chaperoned by School Social Worker Lauren Levesque and LEO Club Adviser Diane Villages.

According to Levesque, the students worked tirelessly to get through as many crates of food as possible. They worked well with fellow volunteers and showed their ability to work together as a team.

“I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and commitment of each student to the cause,” said Levesque. “The students were engaged and grateful for the opportunity to help their community.”

The students in attendance were Kaitlyn Allen, Ryan Hablow, Norman Peters, Liam Lynch, Joseph Carmona, Ryan Andryuk, Katelyn Smyth, Yoelis DeLaCruz, Leangie Jimenez, Michael Lombardi, Ana Loter, Julisa Posada, Quentin Riley and Marissa Villamil.
