Thomas Heinzelman appointed interim principal

The following letter was sent to parents on Tuesday, Oct. 2. After we sent the letter, we noticed a misprint. We mistakenly say that Mr. Heinzelman served as the high school’s interim principal/athletic director in 2011 to 2013. That should have said that he served as the high school’s assistant principal/athletic director.

Following the resignation of Robert McKiernan as Goshen High School principal, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Thomas Heinzelman as interim principal, effective Oct. 4, at last evening’s meeting.

Some may recall that Mr. Heinzelman served as the high school’s assistant principal/athletic director from August 2011 to July 2013.  He is an experienced administrator with over 35 years of experience and clearly understands our district’s mission, vision and values.

Mr. Heinzelman is also a proud graduate of Goshen High School and is very familiar with the Goshen community.

The district will begin a comprehensive search for a new high school principal next spring, so that we have a new principal in place for the 2019-2020 school year.

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Heinzelman back to the Goshen School District.   Mr. Heinzelman will be extremely visible in the building and our students will be in great hands with him and the high school’s leadership team.

I appreciate your support and understanding during this time of transition. Please feel free to reach out to me or Mr. Heinzelman with any questions you may have. We have an outstanding and talented group of faculty and staff who work at the high school. Together, the education they provide to our students is an example for others to follow.

Thank you for the trust you give us in the education of your children.

Cordially,

Daniel Connor

Superintendent
