The start of every new school year brings excitement and new faces and this year at Goshen Central School District is no different. For the 2018-19 school year, Goshen is welcoming eight new teachers and administrators to its ranks.
Our new employees have been working for months to create a smooth transition into the new school year and we’re looking forward to their positive contributions to our Goshen team. We know you’ll take the time to get to know individual teachers and staff members as you meet them, but here’s a quick introduction to the new Goshen Intermediate School (GIS) Principal, Mr. Matthew Wentworth.
Mr. Wentworth replaces Mr. Jason Carter, who accepted the role as Assistant Superintendent for the Goshen Central School District.
Mr. Wentworth said he is excited to join the GIS family and looks forward to welcoming students and their parents when school starts Sept. 6.
“I get a sense from the staff I have met so far, that GIS is a wonderful place to be a student,” he said.
Mr. Wentworth, who for the last seven years was an assistant principal at Port Jervis’ Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School, describes himself as a servant leader. In other words, he said, he leads by listening – and, as was the case with Mr. Carter, by striving to make sure that every decision he makes has the best interest of students and staff at heart.
“My vision for the school is to encourage an environment that empowers teachers to do great things for our students and their families,” he said. “My job is to clear the way for those great things to happen – and to steer the school, and every individual student, on a course for success.”
