Junior lot will be located off campus; shuttles available

Due to the capital project construction that will be taking place at Goshen High School for the duration of the school year, the amount of onsite parking has been drastically reduced.  As a result, only seniors will be able to park in the lot located at the high school whereas in years past juniors have also been able to park at the school.

To that end, the Goshen Central School District will be working with the Orange County Government to meet the needs of the junior class. Through this partnership, Goshen High School’s eleventh-grade students will be allowed to park in a lot located on the Orange County Government Center site on a location commonly referred to as the “Old Jail Site.”  This agreement was made possible by Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus and his staff.

Students will be able to park at this location in the morning and be driven to the high school by one of two shuttle bus options.  The first shuttle bus will arrive at 7:10 a.m. to collect students and the second shuttle bus will arrive at 7:20 a.m. It is important to note that students who arrive for the 7:20 a.m. shuttle may be late to first period class which begins at 7:27 a.m. daily.  At the conclusion of the day these same students will then be driven from the school to the parking lot by the shuttle buses. A school security official will be on site during morning arrival and afternoon departure.

Juniors interested in participating in this parking program will have to register with school administration to receive a parking pass.  No cars will be permitted in the lot without official Goshen High School Parking Passes. Passes will be available for registration on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the Goshen High School Main Office.

Due to Orange County’s plans for paving the lot, parking on this location will only commence beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Students driving to the Orange County Government Center should not arrive prior to 6:50 a.m. and must arrive earlier than 7:20 a.m. in order to load onto the shuttle bus.

Please note: Goshen Central School District is not responsible for students who arrive to this location late and do not have a shuttle ride to the school. All student vehicles must be removed from the parking lot by 3 p.m. each day.

Student athletes, musicians and after-school club participants are required to take the after school shuttle down to pick up their vehicles and then drive those vehicles back to the High School for after school activities. There will not be a “late shuttle” down to the lot following after-school activities.

Goshen High School is grateful to Orange County Executive Neuhaus and Orange County Government for providing this opportunity for our students.
