Letter from Principal McKiernan regarding limited parking at GHS

Earlier this week, Goshen High School Principal Robert McKiernan sent home the following letter regarding senior parking for the 2018-19 school year:

Due to extremely limited parking, only our Goshen High School seniors in good standing may submit a parking permit application for the 2018-19 school year. These applications can be picked up from and returned to the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director’s office in the high school.

Please note: Permit applications, which are $5, will be issued on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Students may not park in spaces labeled 1 through 92, the visitors’ spaces or the handicapped spaces. These spaces are reserved. The rear parking lot is also reserved for staff only.  Students are also prohibited from parking in the rear of the building by the new gymnasium.

Due to the construction on site, there will be no parking for students in the overflow lot by the tennis courts or on the grounds above the district’s bus garage. In light of the limited parking on school grounds, students are encouraged to utilize the school buses to ensure a timely arrival to school.  Any underclassmen involved in after-school clubs, activities or sports may wish to consider using the 2:17 p.m. bus to go home and return with their vehicles if they wish.

Because traffic builds up on Scotchtown Avenue each morning, parents are encouraged to refrain from dropping their children off at school and utilize the buses so that students are in class on time when the first bell rings at 7:27 a.m. each morning.
