SAS celebrates Kids Day/Book Day to celebrate kids and reading

On April 30, Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School celebrated Kids Day/Book Day!

The idea of Kids Day originated in Mexico and was joined with Book Day by author Pat Mora and her book, “Book Fiesta.” Now, celebrations take place all over the world to celebrate kids and reading.

Students were greeted in the mooning with music in the halls and high-fives from teachers. Classes had to “drop everything and read” at different points during the day, and many teachers hosted guest readers as well as fun activities and games. Students also decorated special bookmarks and received pencils and toy frogs to take home, courtesy of the Food Services Department.

Five students play with toys on the carpet.
