View a letter about today’s lockout at Goshen Schools

At 1:30 p.m. today, the Goshen Central School District instituted a lockout as we had received information from the Village of Goshen police that there were reports of a potential active shooter at the Chester Union Free School District.  Our decision was made based on constant communication with law enforcement and in an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

Information from law enforcement has indicated that at no time was there ever a threat to our students, staff or school buildings.

The purpose of a lockout is to contain any threat or disturbance to the building outside of the building. All activities go on as scheduled in the building.

Our health and safety procedures were well executed today. A special thank you to our teachers, administrators, support staff, and especially our students for their calmness and cooperation throughout the lock out.  A continued thank you to the Village of Goshen Police Department for ensuring the health and safety of our schools.  Thank you to our families for your patience and understanding during this difficult situation.
