Just like most districts in Orange County, the Goshen Central School District closed on Wednesday, March 21, based on the forecasted snow storm that did not occur. This day was scheduled as a professional development day for employees; school was not in session for students.
This school closing was the eighth snow day used this year. The district has used all of its six allotted snow days for the 2017-18 school year, and will have to “take back” two scheduled vacation days to ensure school is in session for 180 days as required by law.
- The first “take back” day is Friday, May 25 (Memorial Day weekend).
- The second “take back” day is Monday, April 2 (spring recess). This will be a staff development day, with no school for students, so only faculty and staff will have to report to school.
Again, Friday, May 25 will now be a regular day of school for students, and Monday, April 2 will be a professional development day for staff (no school for students).
If you have any questions about the “take back” days, please contact your school principal.
