CJH names December Students of the Month

Principal William Rolon and Assistant Principal Heather Carman are pleased to announce the Students of the Month for December at C. J. Hooker Middle School.

The student of the month is:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

Yoelis DeLaCruz- It is with great pleasure that we select Yoelis as student of the month! Yoelis continues to work hard in all subject areas! She is committed to always demonstrating her best! Yoelis is extremely kind to her peers and her teachers. She is a great role model to others!

Olivia Martin is a wonderful young adult. She possesses a quiet determination that helps her to succeed. In class she displays outstanding citizenship and is a focused student. She shows a willingness to extend high levels of effort to succeed academically. She approaches each school day with a mature willingness to learn. It is a pleasure to recognize Olivia as our student of the month for December!

Joaquin Garcia was a new student to our district this year. He has done a fabulous job of transitioning and becoming a valued member of the team. Joaquin takes school seriously and is very responsible, focused and hardworking. He is respectful, thoughtful and kind to his teachers and peers. Joaquin is a perfect candidate for student of the month.

Andre Sorice is a hard working young man who works well with others. He is always prepared for class and consistently puts forth his best effort. Andre demonstrated all of the characteristics of a student of the month recipient. Congratulations!

Special Areas:
Layla Cappela is recognized this month for her amazing effort in class. She is dedicated to what she does and it shows in her outstanding work. She is a wonderful and kind person and is very deserving of this honor.

Grade 7

Giovanni Torino – Most of Giovanni’s peers would agree that “G” is just all-around great guy, who is fun to be around. “G” models respect, responsibility and maturity. He is noticeably polite to peers and teachers, regardless of whether the topic of conversation is about academics or hobbies. In class, Giovanni participates regularly, showing he knows what he needs to do to get the job done! Great work “G”!

Zoe Kyrou gives 100% to everything she does. She is meticulous about her work and highly motivated to succeed. In addition to being a stellar student, Zoe is friend to everyone. She is polite, helpful, and shows tremendous kindness and compassion towards others. Zoe comes in to class each day with a smile and never fails to say “thank you” or “have a nice day” on her way out. Thank you Zoe for your hard work, positivity, and the excellent example you set every day. Congrats!

Bryce Bayack is a thoughtful and extremely helpful student. Bryce has displayed continuous growth with his drive and focus. He also demonstrates the ability to show patience and empathy to his peers when needed. Bryce is an excellent candidate for student of the month and it is wonderful to watch him continuously display such a positive attitude towards staff and peers.

Special Areas: Aliana Vanichpong-Barbosa is a dedicated and positive influence to her peers. Not only does she possess an amazing talent but she is ambitious and hard-working. She is respectful and courteous and is deserving of this recognition.

Grade 8

Boaz Movsas is committed to excellence. He is respectful, empathetic and always appropriate. He is friendly with all students and cooperative with adults. He is an ambitious, meticulous and curious student who always strives to be his best. He asks intelligent questions that are engaging and provoke thoughtful discussion. Boaz is encouraging of others and a terrific addition to all of his classes.

Anthony Memmelaar is a respectful, kind, and diligent student who is always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Anthony is committed to academic excellence and helps create a positive learning environment. Anthony has a great sense of humor and always greets others with a smile. Congratulations, Anthony.

Efraim Rivera has consistently been doing a wonderful job in all of his classes. He has shown tremendous growth, focus, and determination in the recent weeks. Keep up the great work!

Special Areas: William Herlihy is a wonderful student to have the pleasure of teaching. He is respectful to everyone and is committed to doing his best both in school and in his activities. He sets a great example to others around him through his work ethic, his responsible nature, and through his kindness. William often puts others before himself but right now we celebrate him!
