Faculty and staff members at Goshen Intermediate School will stay dry during bus duty, thanks to several fifth grade students.
The students, who are members of Girl Scout Troop 376, decided to raise money to purchase umbrellas and an umbrella stand for their teachers as part of their bronze award project.
According to Troop Leader Elena Jordon, the girls’ first step was to brainstorm ways they wanted to help their community. They then narrowed down their list based on what they could realistically accomplish, and held a vote.
In order to raise money, the girls hosted bake sales and participated in Girl Scout sanctioned fundraisers, like cookie selling. They recently presented their donation to Principal Jason Carter.
The girls are Abigail Jordon, Preslei Bakker, Sabrina Izzo, Sabrina Diaz, Alexandra Fife, Jacqueline Rettberg, Jacqueline Garcia, Brianna Carbone, Hannah Abraham, Amelie McDonald, Annick Arose, Jaden Berkley, Fiona Corrigan, Jamilla Fierros, Jasmin Fierros, Mia Antolino, Mackenzie Cipriani, Madeline Thompson, Valentina Santoro, Riley Quattrini, Isabella Simmons and Isabella Scanlon. The leaders are Laura Izzo, Elena Jordon, Marlena Berkley, Analisse Fife and Catherine Pascal.
