NYSED issues notice about wording discrepancy in Geometry Regents Exam

Dear parents/guardians:

On Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 the New York State Department of Education Office of State Assessment issued the following notice:

Notice to Teachers

Regents Examination in Geometry (Common Core) All Editions

Friday, June 16, 2017, 9:15 a.m.
Question 24, Only

This notice applies to students who took the June 16, 2017 Regents Examination in Geometry (Common Core).

As a result of a discrepancy in the wording of Question 24, this question does not have one clear and correct answer.

Students who selected answer choice 1, 3, or 4, or who did not choose an answer for this question, should be awarded credit. Students who selected answer choice 2, the answer indicated in the Scoring Key, have already received credit for this question.

If your child took the Geometry Regents Exam in June of 2017, this correction may have affected the original grade. Any student whose grade went from failing to passing will be notified by phone and letter. All grade adjustments will be reflected in SchoolTool and accessible through the Parent Portal in September.
