Scotchtown Avenue held its 26th annual Kindergarten Festival on May 12. The families of Goshen’s youngest students filled the bleachers in the Goshen High School gymnasium to watch the festivities.
The Kindergarten Festival combines physical education with music education. Physical Education Teachers Cheryl Gage and Matthew Sass work with Music Teacher Sophie Levenberg to create the different activities that the students performed during this year’s festival.
Throughout the year, children learn many different skills in an environment filled with music and movement, including listening and directional skills, spatial awareness, auditory sequencing and memory skills and self-expression through movement and music.
Students performed choreographed dances, sang, demonstrated different physical activities and worked with scarves and parachutes during the Festival.
