This week’s Goshen Gladiator Student-Athletes of the Week are Varsity Softball stars Emily Iozzino and Meghan Doyle.
The Lady Gladiator Varsity Softball team is off to a 4-2 start this season. A major reason behind the team’s success is the solid pitching of Emily Iozzino and Meghan Doyle. Iozzino is currently 2-2 with 47 strikeouts on the season and Doyle has a 2-0 record with 18 strikeouts.
Emily is currently in her third season on the Varsity softball team. She has been playing softball since she was five years old as a member of Orioles T-ball team. Emily’s specialty is pitching, she is known as a “movement pitcher”, as she throws an arsenal of different pitches. She is also a member of our Varsity Volleyball team where she plays outside hitter.
Emily is also a member of the Varsity Club and plays travel softball for Rolling Thunder 18U gold in Pennsylvania. She also trains in the offseason by lifting weights and with her pitching coach, Coach Chariot. Emily has goals of continuing her career at the collegiate level.
Meghan is currently in her second season on the Varsity softball team. She has been playing softball since she was five year old. In addition to pitching, Meghan also is an outfielder for the Lady Gladiators. In the offseason, she plays travel softball for the OC Bombers.
Meghan is a member of the National Honor Society and Leo Club. She also has aspirations of continuing her playing career in college.
