Paul Bennis, seventh grade U.S. History Teacher at the C. J. Hooker Middle School, was selected to attend a teacher seminar this summer at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Bennis’ application for the highly competitive one-week seminar was selected by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in New York City. Bennis will collaborate with international scholars and teachers while studying Thomas Jefferson and the Enlightenment from June 18-24.
The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities.
In addition to the Gilder Lehrman Institute, Bennis also has a collaborative relationship with the New York Historical Society (NYHS) in New York City, the oldest historical society in the U.S. Bennis is one of nine educators invited by the NYHS to contribute to the curriculum for the Vietnam War Exhibit that will run from October 2017 to April 2018.
Bennis has been teaching at Goshen for 17 years.
