Seniors sign letters of intent

Three Goshen High School seniors signed letters of intent to continue their education and athletic careers at college in the fall.

Matt Marvin

Matt will play football at Stonehill College where he will major in exercise science and physical therapy. While at Goshen, Matt played varsity football for three years as a starting offensive guard. He was named Goshen Gladiator Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2015 and 2016 and Class A All-League and All-Section player in 2016. Matt was a participant in the 2016 Exceptional Senior Game. Matt was also a member of the varsity track team, where he was third in Section 9 for shot put in 2016.

Joe Giordano

Joe will play football at Marist College where he will major in sports communications or public communications. Joe was a member of the varsity football team for three years as a tight end, defensive lineman and long snapper. He was an All-League Selection in both 2015 and 2016 and an All-Section selection in 2016. Joe also played varsity baseball and two years of JV basketball.

Ryan Ellefsen

Ryan will wrestle at Clarion University where he will major in liberal arts. Ryan has wrestled on the varsity wrestling team since he was a freshman and is Goshen’s first Section 9 champion since 2005. Ryan has served as captain twice and is Goshen’s all-time wins leader with 122. In 2016, he was named NYS Runner Up and three-time All-American for NHSCA, MAWA and NYWAY. He is the 2016 NUWAY National Champion and placed fourth at Eastern States. Ryan also played defensive end for the varsity football team for two years, where he was named First Team Varsity 845 All-Star, All-Division and All-Section, Fifth Team All-State and Class A Defensive Lineman of the Year for Section 9 in 2016. He was also MVP of the Section 9 Championship Game vs. Cornwall.
